Performance Paul Maheke. The Origin of Death | Shifted Realities

Shifted Realities
Accompanying Programme
Paul Maheke. The Origin of Death
Thur, May 25 | admission free

The Origin of Death reflects on different forms of interconnectedness and further delves into Paul Maheke’s interest in exploring how movement, sound, and identity dialogue. By utilising storytelling from a range of sources: from sci-fi to diaristic notes, early sketches and texts (both found and written by the artist), as well as music and roller skating, the performance embarks the audience on a meditative journey reflecting on the tenuous border between alterity and otherness, and life and death.

Paul Maheke invited to cooperation at the performace Alyssa Dillard, an American performer living in Prague.

What is reality? And is there only one reality? Or are we offered the possibility to move between different versions and variations of what we otherwise take for granted and describe as reality? The exhibition Shifted Realities poses the questions above and supplements them with countless others, offering visitors of Galerie Rudolfinum a range of possible instructions and hints concerning perception of how subdivided and scattered our own realities can be.
