SUMMARY:eeefff: The School of Algorithmic Solidarity: Can Colonialism Be Encoded? | Workshop | DATAS
DESCRIPTION:The workshop with the artistic duo eeefff will take place at Galerie Rudolfinum on Monday\, June 8\, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Admission is free. The results of the workshop will be presented in an artwork by eeefff\, on display at the exhibition DATAS: The Data and the Sovereign. \n  \nThe workshop will be held in English. \n  \nRegistration is required because the capacity is limited. We kindly ask you to make a reservation by emailing rajnisova@rudolfinum.org. \n  \nThe School of Algorithmic Solidarity: Can Colonialism Be Encoded?\n  \nYou are invited to a speculative public space exploring how digital instructions shape our daily lives. During the session we will look into the recently leaked source code of the biggest IT corporation originated in Russia. The source codes of the yandex company were copied in July 2022 and published on the Internet on January 25\, 2023. The size of the leakage is 44\,71 gigabytes compressed. An artistic duo eeefff proposes to read the code collectively\, diving into: \n  \n • encoded ownership on territories\, \n • exceptional cases\, \n • patterns of digital colonialism\, \n • how-to-spell constructedness\, \n • “pure web”\, \n • encoded violence\, \n • fairy tales about oil\, \n • Conditions: {   \n      Tag: “war” \n      Check { \n          # update according to the situation \n          Expression: “0” \n      } \n} \n • /* If Russia (country) from Russia’s point of view (001) contains Crimea and from Ukraine’s point of view (UA) doesn’t contain Crimea\, we build 2 variants of Russia. It means\, that countryToRecognitionSubjects contains Russia [001\, UA]. */ \n  \nWhat to expect?\n  \nWe invite everyone to playfully engage with algorithms that are part of our everyday life (showing some materials and videos that the artists made). There will be performative and playful elements. We will use a tool to search inside of the code that duo eeefff developed and enable participants to delve into the following areas: encoded ownership of territories\, patterns of digital colonialism\, encoded violence\, fairy tales about oil\, conditions\, and more. \n  \nWhat should you bring?\n  \nAll you need to bring is your own laptop. \n  \nNo necessary programming or any other skills are needed. eeefff will guide the session and prepare a tool to search inside of the code. \n  \n  \nThe DATAS: The Data and the Sovereign project is co-funded by the European Union under the Creative Europe programme. \n
