Adéla Babanová (*1980, works in Prague)

In her recently completed film Neptune (2018), Babanová has touched the theme
of propaganda, information war and the influence of media in the past decades and even today. In 1964, Czechoslovak StB (State Police) divers were to seize World War II Nazi documents from the Black Lake in Šumava highlands, Southern Bohemia. However, it was one of many then StB disinformation campaigns that were not uncovered for a long time. Babanová uses archival film and photographic material to develop themes that oscillate between subjective and collective memories, including facts as well as fables and lies.
